Pendant Making Workshop
In this hands-on workshop, you will design and produce a copper or sterling silver pendant.
You will work through the different processes from transferring your design onto the sheet metal, to piercing (sawing) your shape, filing and sanding to tidy the edges, before exploring different textures, forms and surface finishes to refine your piece. You’ll get up close and personal with a jeweller’s favourite tools, the piercing saw and bench peg, as well as a range of hammers, punches and forming tools. By the end of the session you will be an expert at changing saw blades (trust me, you’ll snap several!) as well as being the proud owner of your own, completely unique, handmade pendant.
You will start with a pre-printed design on copper with which to practice your piercing technique, before moving onto your own design. All the copper sheet you need is included in the cost of the workshop; should you wish to complete your design in sterling silver, this can be purchased on the day at an additional cost (approx £15, depending on current market prices). A sterling silver chain on which to hang your pendant is also included.
The maximum group size is 6 people, to ensure each attendee receives a good level of guidance and tuition throughout the workshop. All materials as stated above, tools and an apron are provided, as well as tea, coffee and cake.
It is recommended to bring something to tie back long hair.
Before booking please make sure you read our terms and conditions.
