A pretty necklace for nature lovers!

This lovely pendant features a sunflower design which has been impressed into a nugget of recycled sterling silver. The impression has a wonderfully detailed texture which really brings the image to life. The necklace has a nice weighty feel to it (a little over 4g) and hangs beautifully from a sterling silver curb chain.

How I make your Sunflower Print Pendant

Each sunflower impression is produced individually me in my studio; there’s no mass production going on here! Firstly I melt down an ingot of silver using the offcuts I keep from other projects. Then I press the shape using an impression die and a hydraulic press. This could be repeated 4 or 5 times before I’m totally happy with the depth and detail of the print, annealing the metal between each stage. Once I think I’ve got the perfect print, I file away the excess material and smooth the edges, before soldering on the bale. The impression gets a light oxidising to really make the details pop before a final polish. And voila!
