A note about the “Pebble Shores” Summer Collection

I’ve had these stunning Owyhee blue opal stones in my collection for a while now and always knew they were destined for something summery, but the final inspiration came when lying on an idyllic beach in Kefalonia last year. Think floppy sunhat, a great holiday read and sunshine shimmering across the sea, to a soundtrack of pebbles rolling in the gentle lapping waves. Who’s not feeling the holiday vibe after that?! Of course I couldn’t resist collecting a few pebbles each day, imagining them turned into pretty earrings or pendants, and knew there and then that those gorgeous sea blue opals in my stash would make the perfect pairing.

Owyhee blue opals are quite rare, and take their name from the Owyhee region and river along the Oregon-Idaho border in the USA , where the stones are mined in the volcanic deposits. They are a ‘common opal’, ie they do not display the iridescent flashes usually associated with opals but instead are prized for their distinctive pastel blue tones and natural mineral formations.  Each piece displays unique colours and striations, meaning every piece of jewellery made from this stunning stone is completely individual.

Add in a few necklaces and earrings featuring wave shapes, and a couple of strands of sea blue pearls, and my ode to dreamy summer holidays is complete!
